压电式加速度传感器，又称振动传感器，是基于压电晶体的压电效应工作的。某些晶体在一定方向上受力变形时，其内部会产生极化现象，同时在它的两个表面上产生符号相反的电荷；当外力去除后，又重新恢复到不带电状态，这种现象称为“压电效应”，具有“压电效应”的晶体称为压电晶体。常用的压电晶体有石英、压电陶瓷等，在现代生产生活中被应用于许许多多的方面，如手提电脑的硬盘抗摔保护，目前用的数码相机和摄像机里，也有加速度传感器，用来检测拍摄时候的手部的振动，并根据这些振动，自动调节相机的聚焦。压电加速度传感器还应用于汽车安全气囊、防抱死系统、牵引控制系统等安全性能方面。

Dytran’s new generation of sensors combines two technologies (piezoelectric and DC response MEMS), which until now have never been packaged simultaneously in a single housing.
The Dytran 7701 Extended Low Frequency (ELF?) accelerometer combines both a piezoelectric and a variable capacitance MEMS element, combined as a single output, to create the widest frequency response bandwidth in the industry, from DC (0 Hz) to 10 kHz. Unique ELF? technology combines the most desirable features of piezoelectric sensors (excellent high frequency response) with those of variable capacitance accelerometers (true DC response), eliminating the need for using two different technologies to cover the bandwidth of interest in an application. Slow rotation speeds in the sub-1Hz range and gear mesh frequencies up to 10 kHz can now be made using the same sensor. The Dytran model 7701 ELF? accelerometers are ideal for flight testing, ride quality, Health & Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS), wind turbine measurements, machinery monitoring, and the widest range of structural response applications.
ELF? accelerometer model 7701 is offered with a 200g range and operates on 5-28 VDC power at 7-9 mA of current. Signal/power is handled via a 4-pin M4.5 x 0.35 radial connector. The lightweight titanium housing weighs just 15 grams, and is hermetically sealed for use in rugged environments, from test tracks to outer space. The ELF? incorporates a 10-32 tapped mounting hole and a hex base.
